No two projects are alike. It is this diversity that breeds innovation and that's why our Research and Development programme is central to all that we do.
The construction industry poses many challenges that require innovative thinking, challenging procedures and technology in order to adapt to increasing government and public concern for the environment. Innovation at Higgins takes place in both our methods of construction and the processes that occur on site in the form of logistics, health and safety, training and development, people management, planning and supply chain. We work closely with the BRE to develop best practices that lead to better, safer, more sustainable buildings and communities.
Our internal research and development team is made up of qualified code assessors, engineering co-ordinators and chartered environmentalists. They pioneer new Off Site Manufacturing (OSM) technologies and renewable energy options, helping us deliver code 5 and 6 and introducing technology into the home. This innovation will shape the future of our business and the industry. We are sharing our knowledge through innovation groups we've established with our customers, partners and supply chain, keeping everyone up to speed with the latest technologies. We are now recognised as specialists in a number of technologies. These include Timber Frame (closed and open panel), Structure Insulated Panel Systems (SIP’s), Light Gauge Steel Frame, Biomass, Combined Heat Power systems (CHP), Photovoltaics (PVs) and Solar Panels, Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) and high rise concrete frames with infill paneling.
