Higgins Construction Project Manager wins prestigious Pride in the Job Quality Award

A project manager working for Higgins Construction on its Banbury Park scheme in Walthamstow has been recognised for his efforts by being awarded an NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award.

Rory Turnbull, who has been with Higgins Construction for two and a half years, won his award for his management of Banbury Park, joining almost 450 other Quality Award winners from across the UK.

Now in its 37th year, Pride in the Job celebrates the exceptional contribution site managers make in creating homes of outstanding quality. As well as undergoing spot checks on the day-to-day running of the sites, each site manager is assessed across 37 areas of site management, including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and the quality controls they have in place.

With more than 16,000 site managers competing for the awards, this year’s Quality Award winners have been hand-picked for their excellent standards on site.

Paul Cooke, New Business Director for Higgins Construction commented, “We are delighted that Rory and his team have been recognized for all their hard work at Banbury Park. We pride ourselves on the highest standards in terms of quality and safety across all our sites and this award demonstrates Rory’s commitment to excellence and attention to detail.

“The Pride in the Job Awards is a highly respected award within the industry and winning one is a great achievement, particularly given the tough competition in the London region.”

Rory Turnbull continues, “I am delighted to have won this award. I have been involved on other projects that have won awards, but this is the first one where my name is above the door, so it is very pleasing indeed.

“We have an extremely strong team ethic at Banbury Park and I believe this is one of the reasons we have achieved the high standards on site. The site team has been pivotal in achieving this award and all their hard work has been a fundamental part of why we have won this award. Banbury Park is an extremely special site and has transformed an otherwise barren part of Walthamstow with it contrasting brick and rendering which is very pleasing to the eye.”

Later this year the winners of the 'quality' award will be given the opportunity to compete for a more coveted NHBC Seal of Excellence prize.

Banbury Park in Walthamstow is a £52 million project for Clarion, formerly known as Circle, and involves the design and construction of 351 residential units of two to five stories, retail space, office space, community space, crèche and associated parking.

The proposals involved the regeneration of the under-utilised existing industrial land which is part of the Blackhorse Lane street scene in Waltham Forest. This site has been redeveloped to provide new homes, retail units, B1 spaces, and additional community facilities. The development has also created new public realm areas and improved accessibility to the area.
