Higgins works closely with charities and the local community this Christmas

Higgins has been working closely with local charities and communities around their sites this Christmas raising money and supporting and providing donations to residents’ events.

Amy Ross, Head of Social Value at Higgins comments, “As an organisation we are extremely committed to working closely with the local community around our sites and at head office and are delighted to have been able to support so many initiatives this Christmas.”

Higgins Care Packs
Higgins joined forces with The Care Pack UK to launch ‘Higgins Care Packs’ to provide those that are homeless and sleeping rough in London with the essential ‘survival pack’, so they are able to get through the harsh winter months with a greater degree of comfort. Higgins exceeded its initial target of £3,000 and has raised over £5,000.

Christmas Jumper Day
Higgins once again supported ‘Christmas Jumper Day and raised £207 for Save the Children UK.

Epping Forest Food Bank
The staff at Head Office collected much needed food supplies for Epping Forest Food Bank which helps those in crisis by providing a nutritionally balanced emergency food parcels. The collection is being distributed to local families in time for Christmas.

St Paul’s Food Bank
Higgins and Groundworks and Framework Specialist, Modebest have been working closely with the local community this month at its Bath Road site in Hounslow by collecting much needed food donations for the local foodbank at St Pauls Church.

St Clare’s Hospice, Loughton
Head office staff raised £934 for St Clare’s Hospice in a collection box and festive raffle.

Festive Market at Wooddene Estate
The Higgins team helped the residents of Wooddene Estate put on their very own Christmas market. There was plenty for everyone to enjoy including craft workshops designing wreaths and decorating stockings and festive crafts and Higgins provided food, refreshments and live entertainment.

King Square Estate’s Giving Tree
Instead of Secret Santa, the King Square Estate team have supported charity, Kidsout’s Giving Tree initiative which helps children who live locally in refuge due to domestic violence or abuse. The Giving Tree allows the children to write a tag with their name, age and a gift they would really like. These tags were then hung on King Square Christmas tree before the team purchased the toys, gift wrapped them and dropped them off at collection points. Without the Giving Tree, these children may not receive a gift at Christmas.

King Square Estate Residents Christmas Party
The King Square Estate team once again helped the Tenants and Residents Association put on their annual Christmas party! As well as donating the Christmas tree and lights in the community park for everyone to enjoy over the festive period, the team provided a Rodeo Reindeer and festive face painters for the residents which was enjoyed by all at the party.

Christmas Shopping Vouchers
Across a number of our sites we have been donating £50 shopping vouchers to residents associations and the local community which they have been using to raise much needed funds through raffles.

Grange Farm
The team at Grange Farm brought much festive cheer to local residents this month by providing a £500 sponsorship towards their Christmas party. They all enjoyed a fun packed afternoon with Santa meeting all the children and presents and games for them all to play as well as a Christmas raffle.
