Chaplin House, Acton

Overlooking South Action Park, Chaplin House is a ‘C’ shaped block raging between 4 and 7 that was originally completed in 2010. The original façade comprised insulated render, brickwork and High-Pressure Laminate (HPL) cladding panels. It is one of nine projects that we have secured after being appointed as sole provider by Catalyst Housing Group on their four-year Fire Remediation Works Main Contractors Framework.

Working with our Façade Engineer, ECD we carried out extensive surveys, investigations and opening-up works to confirm the existing external wall system. We used the information gained to develop a BS 8414 tested in-situ remediation solution, which ensures the safety of residents and compliance with all requirements whilst minimising work related disruptions.

Chaplin House is situated directly opposite from another similar project, Reade Court. Both blocks are in highly developed areas, posing logistical challenges. We identified a landscaped area located between the two blocks to house our site accommodation and storage set-up for both projects. This will be reinstated and enhanced upon completion of the works.

This project is supported by the Building Safety Fund and therefore we quickly engaged the relevant teams to achieve a meaningful start on site by 1st September 2020 in order to secure the funding.
