Plevna Triangle, Tottenham

The first of its type to be funded by the Government initiative ‘New Deal for Communities’, the Triangle Centre is a new two-storey building which provided accommodation for an existing 75 place nursery, children’s play centre and out of school club.

  • Budget:£3,400,000
  • Procurement:PPC 2000
  • Client:London Borough of Haringey
  • Concept Architect:Greenhill Jenner
  • Working Drawings Architect:Greenhill Jenner
  • Surveyor:Dunlop Hayward

The new centre was also accessible to the wider community for training and healthcare services and included a multi-purpose hall for sports, community events and performances. The scheme provided an improved street frontage and landmark quality as well as a sensitive gateway to an attractive local park.

An 11 person lift provided access to the upper floor, and all access routes have flat thresholds. The sensory playroom and gardens have specialist features and are used by all the children; facilities such as ramps and handrails are incorporated seamlessly. The internal spaces are very flexible – the upstairs hall in particular can be adapted according to individual and group needs.
