Complete regeneration of the estate stretching across the two London Boroughs of Lewisham and Southwark.
The scheme was a seven-phase, nine year programme to demolish 650 units in 26 low to medium rise blocks, and replace them with 900 homes for rent, 75 shared ownership and 350 private sale units, a nursery and a community centre.
Higgins Construction converted existing houses into an internet-linked Cybercentre to provide local residents with training facilities and improve their employment prospects. A dynamic interactive web site was launched at the Cyber centre to encourage people to get more involved with the diverse community schemes.
Higgins Construction also established a bespoke training centre on the estate through their partnership with CSV. By working closely with local organisations, local employment represented 20% of the entire site workforce.
This project received Housing Forum Demonstration Project status.
