Committed to local labour and building brighter futures

We don't just build buildings, we build skills, jobs, confidence and life experiences for the people in your communities.

Our projects stretch far beyond physical buildings. We work within the community to create employment and training opportunities and participate in on-site apprenticeship programmes. We tailor-make our construction programmes to support the up-skilling of local people, and aim to use local labour for at least 25 per cent of our total labour resources. Training and employment are integral to the development of our business and are factored in from the start of every project. We fund and calculate all costs for local employees from day one – meaning all wage costs are built into our contracts.

Building Brighter Futures

We create real jobs in communities and help residents receive the training they need to take on these jobs. We know how to utilise additional funding for training and ensure this is allocated within the community. It means local people benefit from courses which help them support each project and strengthen their future careers. We thrive on seeing people gain confidence and self-worth, building valuable skills for developing and maintaining long-term careers. Our ultimate goal is to help transform lives.

The National Skills Academy

Our Myatts Field North project has been awarded National Skills Academy for Construction (NSAfC) status, which means the project can offer project-based construction training for apprentices, trainees and existing employees. Developed by CITB Construction Skills, the NSAfC programme is currently being used on major construction projects across the UK, providing companies with a training and leadership framework to up-skill their workforce.

To find out how we can provide training and development opportunities to local businesses, minority business and people in the community, get in touch with our Business Development Team.

This is a very exciting development for Higgins Construction PLC and for the Myatts Field North Redevelopment. Through the National Skills Academy for Construction, CITB Construction Skills is enabling employment, training and apprenticeships on existing construction projects. We feel that this is vital in ensuring that the next generation of construction workers has the skills required to keep the industry buoyant and profitable.
