Higgins Partnerships welcomed its 2022 intake of Management Trainees onto its Management Trainee Programme – ‘Building Your Future’.

George, Keziah, Olivia and Toby were offered positions on the programme following a  rigorous selection process. ‘Building Your Future’ continues to identify young talent and allow them to develop careers in the Construction Industry and Built Environment.

Declan Higgins, Partnerships Director for Higgins Partnerships comments, “We’re proud to continue supporting school leavers and young adults into the industry through our degree apprenticeship programme. The 2022 application process was extremely competitive and the successful group, along with our existing Management Trainees continue to amaze with their enthusiasm and hunger to learn.  We’re really pleased to welcome this year’s intake and wish them every success in their careers with us.”

‘Building Your Future’ is a fantastic opportunity for someone who may not be interested in full time study at University but still wants the chance to study for a degree, whilst gaining the practical experience of working within a number of key departments within the business.

During term time trainees work a four-day week across four core departments with the remaining day spent studying at one of our partnered accredited Universities working towards a construction related BSc (Hons) degree, before progressing into one area of the business to pursue their career.

Management Trainee Emily is now progressing her career as a Trainee Site Manager, having completed her rotations as part of Building Your Future and is currently in her final three years with London South Bank University. She comments, “Looking back at my time on the programme, now that I have finished my rotations, I think it’s the best introduction I could have had into the industry. There are so many roles in construction that I didn’t realise existed and every day is different which keeps the job role interesting and exciting.”

“Full time university is often thought of as the only option into the industry, however this isn’t the case. The degree apprenticeship route enables you to gain real life industry experience from professionals, whilst earning a salary, studying for your degree, and having no student debt.”

Whilst at Higgins, each management trainee will also be enrolled in a mentor programme whereby a senior employee provides individuals guidance on their career as well as assistance with their studies. Individuals will earn a competitive salary and benefit from performance based annual pay rises, with guaranteed employment throughout the programme and completion of their degree.

Applicants will be able to apply for a place on the 2023 programme in the coming months.

A successful applicant must have a minimum of 3 A levels (or equivalent) at C or above to the join the BSc course, good communication skills, computer literate and enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

The deadline for applications will be 31st January 2023.
