Greenhill Centre in Newham receives prestigious national construction award

Greenhill Centre development in Newham has won a 2025 LABC Warranty Bricks Development of the Year Award for its high standards of workmanship and excellent site management.
Higgins Partnerships earned its place at The Bricks by receiving one of LABC Warranty's monthly Site Recognition Awards. Winners of a Site Recognition Award are nominated by LABC Warranty's risk management surveyors during their regular inspections of building sites.
Site Recognition Awards score building sites against LABC Warranty’s standards for health and safety, workmanship, site tidiness and site management as observed by surveyors. All monthly Site Recognition Award winners for the year are entered into The Bricks Development of the Year consideration, with LABC Warranty's technical specialists producing a shortlist and choosing the final winners.
This rigorous, evidence-led approach makes The Bricks Development of the Year Award one of the most prestigious and rare awards that builders and site managers in England and Wales can earn.
LABC Warranty is one of the largest providers of structural warranties in the UK. Working in partnership with Local Authority Building Control (LABC), its combined team of more than 3,700 surveyors work with house builders, contractors and housing associations.
Higgins is working in partnership with London Borough of Newham to deliver 81 affordable, low-energy homes at Greenhill Centre. Located in Manor Park, the development features three blocks: an eight storey building, a five storey building and a multi-level building with heights varying from two to seven storeys. Of of the 81 homes, 56 will be available at London Affordable Rent and 25 will be offered for low-cost shared ownership, with partial funding from the Greater London Authority.
Designed by architects Haworth Tomkins, the scheme will also include a new gym space and landscape improvements, with a focus on preserving existing mature trees on the site and creating a new community garden.
Declan Higgins, Chief Executive Officer at Higgins said: “We’re delighted to win The Bricks Development of the Year award from LABC Warranty. I’m especially pleased for our team working on the site as this reward is a recognition of their hard work, professionalism and expertise.”
“The Bricks is one of the hardest prizes to win as a builder and site manager,” said Sarah Dee-Shapland, Head of Technical Services at LABC Warranty. “It requires site managers and their teams to work constantly to uphold quality, safety, and workmanship across all the plots under their care.
“Winning a Brick also requires the buy-in of builders to support their site managers, backing them to put together teams and contractors to deliver great homes on great sites.
“I’d like to offer my congratulations to The Bricks winners this year, they should all be proud of the incredible work they’ve done on their sites.”
