Higgins Group is marking its 65th anniversary, celebrating more than six decades of building communities across London and the South East through high-quality homes, strategic regeneration and long-term partnerships.
Founded in 1961 by the late Derek Higgins OBE as a family-run business, Higgins has evolved into a respected contractor and developer partner, working closely with local authorities, registered providers and joint venture partners to deliver mixed-tenure housing and complex regeneration schemes.
Today, the Group combines contracting expertise with in-house development capability spanning site acquisition, planning, design, funding and delivery. This integrated model enables Higgins to work collaboratively from early feasibility stages through to completion, unlocking challenging urban sites and accelerating housing delivery.
Partnership working remains central to Higgins’ approach. Over the past 65 years, Higgins has delivered thousands of new homes in collaboration with local authorities across London and the South East, helping to transform estates, regenerate brownfield land and create sustainable neighbourhoods with long-term social value.
Under the leadership of the third generation of the Higgins family, the business continues to strengthen its long-term public sector relationships while expanding its development pipeline. With a secured order book of £1.1 billion and a strong development pipeline, Higgins is well-positioned for sustained, long-term growth. The Group currently has 17 live developments and new-build opportunities ranging in value from £22million to more than £350 million, alongside 12 specialist works projects valued between £2 million and £17 million, providing resilience and diversity across its portfolio.
The company is also delivering 470 Passivhaus homes across four London sites, reinforcing its commitment to low-carbon construction and high-performance, energy-efficient housing.
Declan Higgins, Chief Executive Officer of Higgins Group, said: "Reaching our 65th anniversary is a proud moment for everyone connected with Higgins. Our longevity is built on trusted partnerships, consistent delivery and long-term commitment to the communities in which we work.”
“As a third-generation family business, we remain focused on strengthening our relationships with local authorities and partners, investing in sustainable development and delivering regeneration schemes and homes we are proud to put the Higgins name to.”
Throughout its history, Higgins has reinvested in communities through local employment initiatives, apprenticeships and long-term supply chain engagement, ensuring developments deliver economic opportunities alongside new homes.
As the business looks ahead, its commitment remains clear: to work in partnerships, deliver high-quality homes and continue building sustainable communities across London and the South East.
