Saxon Wharf, Greenwich

The Saxon Wharf development is a residential-led scheme within Greenwich Town Centre, boasting excellent transport connections to Central London and the South East via Greenwich DLR and Rail Stations which are only a 5-minutes’ walk from the Site.

Previously tenanted by a plant hire company, this brownfield site is being redeveloped for our client Notting Hill Genesis to provide 145 new 1, 2 and 3-bedroom homes, comprising of 25% rent, 25% shared ownership and 50% private sale housing units with 401sqm of flexible commercial/employment floorspace. Designed by BPTW architects, the new part 13, part 17-storey building has been arranged to maximise views and access to Deptford Creek.

The majority of the new homes will be dual aspect, with the single aspect units benefiting from enviable views of the Creek. All 145 residential units will have access to private balconies and high-quality landscaped amenity and play space. A new public plaza will also be provided in front of the 17-storey element of the building, next to which a pedestrian tree line boulevard will provide access to the Creek walkways.

Located on the ground floor, the flexible commercial/business floorspace will ensure that this new mixed-use development provides employment and business opportunities that contribute to the evolving urban environment along Norman Road.

New amenity space for residents will include children’s play spaces, hard landscaping that reflects the industrial heritage of the local area and soft landscaping, including the planting of trees to enhance the ecology of the area, drawing inspiration from the site's original use as market gardens. As well as the extensive greening throughout the site the development will also feature green and brown roofs.

The new development will be car-free, providing parking for blue badge holders only. Instead, the completed scheme will offer storage for a minimum of 244 cycles, and boasts excellent public transport links.
