77 affordable homes have been completed at Higgins Partnerships’ latest development in Newham. Built for Populo Living, Newham Council’s wholly owned housing company, the one, two and three bedroom homes are located in two new contemporary mansion blocks.

Designed by Concept Architect Karakusevic Carson, the mansion blocks bring a new standard of design to the area, with the two buildings surrounding a communal garden with views over the Greenway. Nine of the homes are adaptable for wheelchair accessible.

Steve Leakey, Managing Director for Higgins Partnerships comments, “The Grange has been an important development for Higgins. As well as providing much needed affordable homes for the local community, we have been able to provide training and employment opportunities for local residents, including taking on five Newham apprentices who have been able to start their careers in construction.”

Higgins Partnerships actively recruits apprentices and local labour around its projects. As well as apprenticeships the company has also been working closely with Newham Sixth Form College offering work placements and the Newham Royal Docks Internship Scheme initiative which provides local people the opportunity to work with organisations to gain valuable skills, experience and knowledge during a 12-month placement.

The new affordable homes at The Grange have been let at ‘London Affordable Rent’ levels and are only available to those on the Newham Council’s housing waiting list in accordance with the Council’s nominations policy.
