The Grange, Newham
Residential development with Populo Living, London Borough of Newham’s wholly owned housing company, with Agent Airey Miller acting as Employers Agent. The project is located on a former greenfield site in Plaistow which required the demolition of two existing houses, site clearance and the removal of invasive species Japanese Knotweed.
The Grange development provides 77 quality apartments with a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments across two separate buildings, which are designed by Concept Architect Karakusevic Carson as contemporary “mansion blocks”. The two buildings surround a communal area and look out over the Greenway. The break between buildings and the simple, robust brick design allows it to compliment the area well. Works also included external hard and soft landscaping, cycle storage, plant rooms and a new sub-station.
The Grange development also comprised the redevelopment of previously derelict and vacant land to create two L-shaped mansion blocks fronting onto Grange Road and Solent Rise. The mansion block design brings a new standard of design to the area, the blocks are 5 storeys located to the west of the site and a 4 storey block located to the east of the site.
Deborah Heenan, CEO of Populo Living, added: “Our impressive, generous and light filled apartments exceed relevant design standards and will be a welcome addition to Plaistow. The team at Populo Living are looking forward to welcoming families into these homes soon and being part of the local community for years to come.”
