Higgins Partnerships is delighted to mark the completion and unveiling of a vibrant new mural hoarding at our Deptford Landings development in the London Borough of Lewisham, delivered in collaboration with artist Eloisa Henderson-Figueroa and pupils from Deptford Primary School.

This exciting community art project placed creativity and collaboration at its heart, with Eloisa leading a series of engaging workshops designed to inspire and empower the children. Throughout the sessions, pupils were given a unique insight into life as a professional artist, while also playing a central role in shaping the final mural design.

The workshops encouraged the children to explore a wide range of creative techniques. From scribbling to music to loosen up their imagination, to experimenting with stickers and tape, each session was filled with energy, curiosity and self-expression. The children also created their own bookmarks to take home, giving them a lasting reminder of their artistic journey.

The ideas and creativity that emerged during these sessions were truly inspiring, culminating in a striking mural that is now pride of place on the hoarding at Deptford Landings. The artwork reflects the children’s perspective, imagination and individuality, which is now on display for the community to enjoy.

The unveiling event brought together pupils, teachers, the artist, Peabody and the Higgins team to celebrate the finished piece and the collaborative effort behind it. Seeing their ideas brought to life on such a large scale was a proud and memorable moment for everyone involved.

A class teacher from Deptford Primary School said, “The project was amazing and gave children a space to be creative and see the product of their work outside their school. The session was very fun and the children were inspired to make more art, The children loved to see the result of their artwork and have been proud to tell their parents what they helped to create.”

Artist Eloisa added, "Working with the local primary school for this project has been amazing. Their enthusiasm and joy inspired the mural to be this celebration of life and colour, and I'm so happy that they will get to see it every day and know that their artwork contributed to the design. I have really enjoyed working with Higgins Partnerships and the school to create this mural and hope that the children have been inspired to keep making art and having fun."

At Higgins Partnerships, we are committed to creating places that foster community, creativity and connection. This project is a fantastic example of how meaningful engagement can leave a lasting legacy, not only enhancing the local environment but also inspiring the next generation.
