Myatts Field Community Centre, Lambeth

Design and development of this landmark facility and hub located in the centre of Myatts Field North estate, in Lambeth, London for London Borough of Lambeth. The community Centre is part of the wider Oval Quarter masterplan that delivered 808 new homes and 172 refurbished properties, new urban village with community facilities including new function hall, café and crèche and central park as part of the exciting new public realm.

The design for the whole masterplan was created by PRP Architects, the main hall is a flexible and adaptable space that is used for sport or other physical activities with associated changing rooms. The outdoor facilities consist of a multi-use games area (MUGA), which forms part of approximately four hectares of open space. The overriding architectural principle of the building was to integrate into the large open public green space as an earth shelter, to minimise visual and environmental space, using the roof as a vantage point to view activities in and around the park.

We offered a menu of Community Engagement initiatives to help encourage and promote resident engagement and resident participation including: Community Consultation and DJ Workshop and a Family Fun Day.
