Oval Quarter, Lambeth
An award winning, major redevelopment in the London Borough of Lambeth, providing 808 new homes and the refurbishment and modernisation of 172 existing homes for London Borough of Lambeth, Regenter Limited, Higgins Homes (Our sister development company) and Notting Hill Genesis. The redevelopment also included the development of a state-of-the-art landscaped park; new streets, green spaces and allotments; refurbishment of retail units and a new community centre with sports facilities.
The masterplan was designed by PRP Architects with Cyril Sweett Limited acting as Employer’s Agent. The masterplan focused on the public realm, at the heart of which was the new central park and community centre. A new hierarchy of streets were created to add character to the surrounding urban form, providing a variety of identities for the different parts of the estate. The masterplan incorporated new technologies for heat and power, a strategy to develop and enhance the ecology of the area and the placement of art. The masterplan was developed in consultation with stakeholders and the local community.
This six-year redevelopment programme has seen the transformation of the Myatts Field North Estate, providing a new mixed and sustainable community, making it more vibrant, welcoming and a greener environment for existing and future residents. The tenure mix is 247 general needs rent / 146 Shared Ownership / 357 private sale / reprovision of 58 leasehold homes.
