Clapham Park, Clapham

Mixed Use Development for Metropolitan Thames Valley delivering 201 new homes and a new Nursery School at Clapham Park, South London. This development forms part of the wider improvements to the Clapham Park Estate, the new homes are situated adjacent to Kings Avenue, Clarence Crescent and Headham Road in London’s SW4 and are spread across three new precincts and range in heights from four to six storeys.

This mixed tenure development included 36 affordable units in B2 (4/5-storeys), 73 private sale units in B4 (5-storeys) and 93 private sale units, a new basement car and cycle parking and a new substation in B6 (5/6 storeys). Also included was the installation of a marketing suite and show units within blocks B4 and B6. We also carried out the construction of a new nursery, utilities and drainage works and all external and landscaping works including the formation of a new park.

The Clapham Park Masterplan was designed by PRP Architects with Pellings acting as Employer’s Agent for Metropolitan Thames Valley. The development was modelled using PRP’s smart regeneration initiative which went on to win the award for Digital and BIM initiative of the Year at the 2018 Building Awards.

This project has helped to regenerate the local area in terms of economic benefits, community regeneration and community participation. We had a commitment to get local people into training, employment and apprenticeships wherever possible and we employed 90 local people on the Clapham Park project. We arranged a nursery visit to Ann Bernadt School in Peckham, to discuss site safety, PPE and show them our company Mascot ‘Phil Safe’. We also donated 4 x £25 gift prizes for the raffle to the Clapham Park Fun Day, which was held as the official opening of the new community centre.
