Ecole, Bermondsey

Appointed as Development Partner to London Borough of Southwark to redevelop the former Cherry Garden School. Ecole is located in Bermondsey, London. The development offers 56 one, two and three bedroom apartments and houses across a mixture of tenures set around a central landscaped courtyard, 150 m2 of retail use together with hard and soft landscaping and other associated works.

Working alongside our wider design team, Alan Camp Architects, we held three public consultation sessions to give local people an opportunity to contribute to the design of the development with our design team. Following a thorough review of the received feedback, we held a two-day public exhibition to present the emerging plans of the development.

Councillor Stephanie Cryan, Cabinet Member for Council Housing, said: “I’m thrilled that we are partnering with Higgins Homes to provide much-needed new homes for people in Bermondsey. This varied development will cater to a range of needs and will allow a significant number of local council tenants on our housing register to move into a brand-new home.”
