Kingsgate House, Cheslea
This project is one of nine that we have secured after being appointed as sole provider by Catalyst Housing Group on their four-year Fire Remediation Works Main Contractors Framework. We were selected as the most experienced and capable contractor following rigorous selection and tendering procedures and building upon a successful track record of delivering similar projects for Catalyst.
Kingsgate House covers a site area of approximately 1,345m2. It was previously occupied by an office block before redevelopment of the plot in 2014 created 43 new affordable rent homes. The site is logistically challenging with three of the four elevations fronting a TfL Red Route and busy pavement requiring extensive public protection measures.
Working alongside Façade Engineers, Fassaden + Architektur + Technik we have undertaken surveys and investigations to inform the design of an A-rated replacement cladding system. This will replace the original system, being removed to provide access to the Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) structure, which will be encapsulated with fireproof materials as a protective measure. We are carrying out full scale BS 8414 system testing to ensure safety and compliance.
This project is supported by the Building Safety Fund and therefore we quickly engaged the relevant teams to achieve a meaningful start to works by 1st September 2020 to secure the funding.
