South Acton Gardens Estate, Acton

Reade Court, Lawrence Court , Chaplin House and Lowry House are four residential buildings situated on the South Acton Gardens Estate, which began a 20-year regeneration scheme in 2010. The four blocks were completed in 2019. The estate’s residents enjoy fantastic public transport links, being located in close proximity to South Acton Overground station and easy access to green space being near to South Acton Park. Read Court and Lawrence Court share a party wall on one elevation.  Across the road, Lowry House and Chaplin House also share a and party wall along a single elevation. Each block has its own entrance.

We carried out intrusive investigations to inform the remedial solution, working closely with ECD Architects. The remedial scope of works for all four blocks follows a full linear route to remediation to areas with cladding and render. A non-linear route, tested to BS8414 is being followed in areas clad in brickwork, which is prevalent at Reade Court and Lawrence Court. The windows are being removed to allow replacement fire barrier installation before being re-installed. All of these works are being captured photographically at key stages by our partner Multivista as part of our Quality Assurance process to delivery the Golden Thread of Information.

This is one of nine projects that we have secured after being appointed as sole provider by Catalyst Housing Group on their four-year Fire Remediation Works Main Contractors Framework. We were selected as the most experienced and capable contractor following rigorous selection and tendering procedures and building upon a successful track record of delivering similar projects for Catalyst such as Dan Court.

This project is supported by the Building Safety Fund and therefore we quickly engaged the relevant teams to achieve a meaningful start to works by 1st September 2020 and secure the funding.
