Supporting local charities and foodbanks this Christmas

Posted: 16/12/2020

With many more people turning to food banks and charities for support this year, as a result of the pandemic, we are proud to be supporting local food banks and charities focusing on homelessness, loneliness and food poverty around our projects this Christmas. We have financially contributed to each of these fundraisers and are working with our site staff and supply chain partners to raise money.

Through our sites in Islington we are supporting the Action for Children local fundraiser and helping vulnerable children through donations

At Barrow Hall Road we are collecting donations of food and drink for local homeless people through Harp Southend.

The team at Bath Road, Hounslow is supporting local food bank St Pauls, and collecting donations to help local residents, particularly over the holiday period.

Over at Stonebridge, the team is raising money for The Mayor of Brent Council’s charities this Christmas – Sickle Cell UK and Jason Roberts Foundation. If you would like to make a donation please visit

Our Chippenham Gardens site team is helping to tackle food poverty and collecting donations for North Paddington Food bank this Christmas. You can donate at

Grange Road, Woolwich Reach and Chobham Farm sites based in Newham are working together to raise money for The CarePack UK, a charity which helps homeless people by giving ‘survival packs’ and is targeting those affected in the borough.

At Grange Farm Estate in Harrow, we have been working hard with charity My Yard and secured funding to support Grange Farm Estate and the wider South Harrow community with a food hub which will help those experiencing food poverty in the area. We have also held a Christmas card competition for local residents, with the winning design being printed and delivered to every resident on the estate along with a gift bag.

Our Shredded Wheat team is supporting One YMCA to tackle loneliness this winter and support our local community. The charity delivers a range of programmes, accommodation and services that tackle the issues facing local people and ensure that there are opportunities for young people throughout its work, from apprentices to work experience and childcare to youthwork.

At  Boston Road, Ealing the team is supporting Crisis UK and raising money to help someone on their journey out of homelessness.

The team at Dan Court, Park Royal has supported Newman Catholic College Food Bank by donating a £50 Asda voucher to help support local families this Christmas.

Our team in head office has also been doing their bit, supporting Epping Forest Food Bank by collecting donations of much needed food supplies to help local people in crisis this Christmas, along with donating our old jackets which are being given to a homeless charity through the food bank.

Instead of sending Christmas cards, the team have been making donations to St Clare Hospice Christmas Card Collection and have already raised over £750 Festive jumpers were also on display on Christmas Jumper Day, raising over £140 for Save the Children.

We wish you all a safe and healthy Christmas and New Year.
